What should I expect from my first session?

I take a questionnaire to conduct an analysis of your lifestyle and diet, your medical history, medications, supplements, and general health.
Cellular analysis through optical microscopy with the live drop test and the coagulated drop test. (All done with a single, small prick on the finger, with a lancet) We will study the morphology and behaviour of your blood cells, possible infections, hormones and other parameters, as well as a review of the analytics that you can contribute.
Detailed explanation of everything we see through the microscope on a large screen.

A possible explanation for your health problems, from a biological perspective. If necessary, other tests will be recommended to provide us with more information. Discussion of foods that may be contributing to symptoms and pathology. Food suggestions that can help ease your symptoms. With all this data we will develop an action plan based on personalized nutrition.

What can these services assist you with

One of the key principles naturopaths abide by is ‘treating the cause’ (tolle causam). This means that wherever possible, we work to identify and address the cause of disease or dysfunction in the body, with the aim of improving wellbeing. We also work alongside other health practitioners such as doctors, chiropractors, physios, fertility specialists, endocrinologists and more to ensure our patients are receiving truly holistic healthcare.

In addition to thyroid disorders and women’s health, some of the other aspects of health I can support you with include:

  • Nutrition and dietary advice

  • Reproductive health (PCOS, PMS, painful periods, irregular periods, missing periods, endometriosis, fibroids and so on)

  • Pregnancy and postpartum care (health and nutrition during pregnancy, morning sickness, postpartum care, issues with milk supply etc)

  • Children’s health

  • Digestive disturbance, IBS, Coeliac disease and other gastrointestinal disorders

  • Stress, low energy and fatigue

  • Sleep and insomnia

  • Anxiety and depression

  • Allergies and food intolerances

  • Poor immune function (frequent coughs and colds)

  • Recurrent UTIs or thrush

  • Acne and other skin conditions, such as eczema or psoriasis

  • Headaches and migraines

  • Cardiovascular health (high cholesterol, high blood pressure etc)

How should I prepare for my first treatment?

I always ask my patients to bring along a list of their current medications (names and doses). If you can, it’s also a great idea to bring along any recent blood tests or other investigations you might have had

Do all naturopaths take people off gluten/dairy/sugar?

Not at all! In many cases, dietary changes can be helpful to improve our patient’s health and wellbeing, and that may or may not include recommendations around certain foods. When there is a clinically justified reason to remove a certain food from a patient’s diet, I always educate my patients as to why this is the case and work with them to find suitable alternatives. Sometimes these changes are temporary, and sometimes patients need to come off certain foods for a longer time, but it’s important to remember every individual is unique, and so too is the diet that will work best for them.
